Measure of

Project Surveyor

Colin Palmer, PLS

“I went to school for a degree in Surveying, not business development. Allowing surveyors to concentrate on their area of expertise results in excellent quality that’s fast and efficient. I’ve been in this profession for nearly 20 years and I can honestly say that I’ve never worked with a smarter, more dedicated group of surveyors than I have here at Terrane.”

  • As a senior level professional surveyor, you will be responsible for fulfilling the scope of work, maintaining project schedule, and achieving accuracy of completed surveys. The day to day will include interpreting record documents for boundary resolution and working closely with survey crew members by providing them with clear instructions/direction. In this role, you will also work closely with Drafters and Project Coordinators to review drawings, meet deadlines, and understand project scope. Effective communication with internal staff is essential. You must maintain professional license(s) and complete required continuing education.

This is your opportunity to work with a group of exceptional professionals that operate as a cohesive team in a fun and exciting atmosphere. You should also possess a desire to mentor and develop other survey personnel and collaborate with peers, so we can continue to cultivate future surveyors.

Are you ready to love where you work?

  • Only apply if you are confident in your abilities, as we need someone ready to hit the ground running.  We will get you up to speed with our approach to projects, but you must already possess a good base of surveying knowledge and be capable of working as part of a two-person team or on your own.

Are you frustrated with your commute to and from the office? Our surveyors are not required to come to the office. Projects are scheduled based on location to keep you closer to home. We are dedicated to your success, so lack of or poor-quality equipment will never be an issue.

Here is your opportunity to work with a group of exceptional professionals that operate as a cohesive team in a fun and exciting atmosphere. We work hard and expect a lot from our team members, but we hire professionals who understand that hard work should be rewarding, and make it a priority to take great care of our people.

Are you ready to love where you work?

  • The position is characterized by increasingly specialized knowledge of the planning field and professional level of required duties and responsibilities. While some amount of time is devoted to routine tasks, you are expected to work closely with senior-level planners and project managers and may be asked to perform more complex professional-level planning duties under the direct supervision of the senior-level planner. Typical job functions include providing technical assistance to team members, routine data entry & file management, researching information on a variety of project-related planning issues, direct communication with agency staff and project clients.

General understanding of development and zoning codes, with specific experience permitting development and construction projects is critical. Strong ability to navigate agency requirements, checklists and applications quickly and accurately would be expected.
