Case Study Short Window, High Volume

Field surveyor.

The Challenge

The ownership team at a regional shoring and drilling company requested that Terrane provide a third-party as-built and exhibit of a potentially misplaced soldier pile in an excavation located within a very busy downtown Seattle intersection.

The permit only allowed for a short construction window due to the high volume of traffic, so time was a major factor in diagnosing this issue. Within 24 hours, Terrane provided the needed as-built locations to the shoring contractor, complete with a comprehensive exhibit that included a point cloud scan of the affected area.

Our construction team mobilized immediately at the client’s request, engaging our as-built work with a necessary sense of urgency.

The Results

  • Provided third-party survey support services to an established project partner in the construction industry
  • Enabled project team to accurately determine the error and whether it would affect finalizing construction of the project
  • Used a multifaceted approach to collecting data for project engineers, capturing direct readings and point cloud data to ensure precise and complete measurements

Despite inflexible timing, limited access, and unique measurement challenges, we provided a complete deliverable to the client, exceeding their timeframe and expectations.
